After graduation

Universities, junior colleges, and specialized colleges in childcare, domestic science and nutrition

A course for students interested in careers involving children, or in food-related professions such as nutritionist, chef, or pastry chef. Practical subjects such as piano/eurhythmics, formative activities, childcare training, and cooking practice are extensive.

Acquire specialized knowledge in childcare and food coordination

In the childcare field, we have formed a high-school/university partnership with the Childcare Department of Tsurumi University Junior College, and jointly design instruction plans for specialized childcare skills. Students receive high-quality instruction from university professors with specialized knowledge and from instructors with extensive on-site experience. In the food coordination field, students learn from the very first step of how to hold a knife, and firmly acquire foundational cooking skills. Learning develops through classes on confectionery/breadmaking and table coordination, and students study through a curriculum that broadly imparts food-related knowledge and skills.

Topics

Broadly learning about children, food ingredients and cooking

To cultivate the qualities needed as a childcare worker, we incorporate childcare skills such as piano/eurhythmics and formative activities, along with hands-on classes using baby dolls and internships at nursery schools. Students are in an environment where they can hear on-site stories from teachers who have experience as kindergarten teachers and childcare workers. Students interested in food-related jobs experience the joy of eating and the delight of preparing and serving meals through cooking practice, table coordination and other hands-on classes.

Teacher’s Comments

Mr. Eiji Ohori (Childcare Instructor)

Ms. Sayuri Tosaki (Food Coordination Instructor)

The childcare and food fields have high social demand and require young talent. Since on-site work depends heavily on dialogue with people, we also focus on developing communication skills. Students challenge themselves to obtain various certifications, preparing to advance to university or specialized colleges. We support students’ aspirations to “be useful to others.”
