On January 28, in the Global Course first- and second-year “International Liberal Arts” class, we invited a professor from the Meiji Gakuin University Faculty of International Studies to give a lecture on international economics. In the university introduction, some students had already visited universities; the professor gave advice on the differences among faculties and actual entrance exams, and we saw students seriously considering their futures. The lecture was themed “Are Japanese people unkind?” Based on data suggesting Japanese are unkind, students voiced their own views from various perspectives. Exchange students currently visiting from Pelkhil School in Bhutan also participated, making for meaningful cross-border exchange of opinions. Furthermore, hearing about college life and career paths directly from a university professor gave students — who will soon be deciding their own paths — a wonderful opportunity to expand their options.
